If you are tired of nouvelle cuisine or the excesses of rich French cooking, or you have had enough of restaurant Italian food, then you might be ready for Dana McCauley's Dana's Top Ten Table cookbook. It features 200 fresh takes on what she calls family-favorite meals that make cooking a fun experience.
We know all about Britain's Naked Chef, Jamie Oliver. Dana, who's been around much longer, could be Canada's equivalent judging by her approach to food and her wide appearances on TV shows, in magazines across North America, and other far-flung places. Her list of books about food is very long, and she even has collaborated with US etiquette icon Letitia Baldrige and Kennedy Administration White House chef René Verdon to create books for the American market.
One of the first things I do when I come across a new cookbook is to test the recipes before I write about the book. It is an obvious given, but as I have discovered, not something all reviewers do. I give Dana's recipes high . . .
